About

Mr. Brian Murphy, P.E., P.H., CFM, ENV SP, D.WRE is a Principal Water Resources Engineer with CDM Smith in Denver, Colorado.  Brian’s personal interests and professional career are focused on enhancing, exploring, protecting, and sustaining the environment, especially fresh water ecosystems.  

Mr. Murphy has nearly 15 years of experience in water resources engineering and planning.  His primary fields of work include ecosystem restoration (with expertise in aquatic ecosystems), floodplain and stormwater management, and watershed hydrology.  He has conducted aquatic restoration and habitat studies and designs, developed complex hydrologic watershed models, and analyzed river/floodplain mechanics and geomorphology.  Brian's design experience includes river/lake restoration, aquatic habitat, levees, stormwater systems, erosion control measures, and general civil grading.  Mr. Murphy has also developed construction drawings, detailed cost opinions, and technical specifications.

Brian received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Santa Clara University and a Master of Science in Environmental Science and Engineering from Colorado School of Mines.  He is registered as a P.E. in the states of Arizona, California, Colorado, and Texas, and a Professional Hydrologist.  Brian is also a Certified Floodplain Manager and achieved his D.WRE in spring 2014.
