AAWRE President Roger Kilgore's Message
Thank you to those of you who have already renewed your D.WRE Board Certification for this 2018 calendar year. If you still have yet to renew, please do so as soon as possible. The online form can be found here: http://www.aawre.org/certification/certification-renewal.
Some of you have asked what does my renewal fee to maintain my board certification pay for? Your renewal fee helps maintain the accreditation of our board certification process and supports our efforts to inform employers, government agencies and other organizations of the value of hiring board-certified water resources engineers. As you know, the D.WRE Board Certification is the highest level of advanced post-licensure board certification offered in civil engineering. You have earned your board certification and we are working to increase its value to you and others!
Thank you to everyone that participated in the AAWRE survey. Some of the key findings can be found here and the individual comments/responses from our Diplomates here.
These survey results support the need to continue to focus on communication about board certification. I also wanted to let you know that we will soon be conducting additional survey of Diplomates, potential Diplomates, and owners of firms who may employ Diplomates in an effort to continually improve AAWRE. We will work diligently to bring more awareness, value, and the importance of the D.WRE Board Certification to owners, engineering firms, and the public.
Elections for a New Board Member
You should have received your ballot to vote for the 2018-2021 Board members. Please remember to vote! Thank you to those that submitted a nomination. On behalf of the AAWRE Board of Trustees, I want to thank out-going Trustee, Phil Turnipseed and past-president Deborah Lee, for their service and leadership the past several years.
The EWRI Congress was held June 3-7, 2018 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was a great time for all who attended to meet colleagues, network with other professionals and gain knowledge from keynote speakers. AAWRE hosted numerous events, including training sessions on professional ethics, serving as an expert witness, as well as a special panel discussion on board certification. We also held our 14th annual AAWRE Diplomate Induction ceremony to recognize the 2018 class of Diplomates and AAWRE awards recipients. To see the full list of class of Diplomates click here.

Invite a Colleague
We invite you to reach out to your colleagues to tell them about the benefits of being a Diplomate and encouraging them to apply. The requirements are P.E. licensure and 10+ years of water resources engineering experience, of which 8 years is after the first P.E. license. Please think of just one colleague that may be eligible for the D.WRE Board Certification. You will find the full qualifications and application materials on our website at www.aawre.org.
