Statement of service: "I have supported the concept of advanced engineering certification, particularly in water resources engineering, as President‐elect and subsequently as President of EWRI at the time AAWRE was created and implemented by ASCE. Subsequently, I served as a Trustee at Large on the AAWRE Board from 2012‐2015 actively promoting and growing the advanced certification sector of our profession. I sincerely believe that the recognition of exceptional engineering expertise in water resources provides the client/tax-payer assurance that technical work being performed uses state‐of‐the‐art techniques, meets established standards of engineering practice, and focuses on the public safety, particularly for complex engineering challenges.

Unfortunately, the concept of advanced engineering certification has not been fully embraced by the engineering profession nor by the markets that engage engineering services. Although each applicant for advanced certification is scrutinized for their educational credentials, engineering experience, licensure, and character, advanced certification is not always viewed as value added. Therefore, the concept of advanced certification perhaps requires rethinking, repackaging and/or needing remodeled to be considered viable.

It is important that advanced certification through AAWRE continue. I would enjoy the challenge and opportunity to join the Board and attempt to be a part of the “revolution” to sustain AAWRE and grow the advanced water resources engineering certification sector of our profession. Growing pains are expected, but continuing this effort is worthy of the investment. As a former consultant, university professor, Army officer and life member of ASCE, I welcome this challenge."

Kathlie Jeng-Bulloch, Ph.D., P.E., D.WRE, F.EWRI - City Engineer & Director of Engineering Department, City of Huntsville - Texas

Statement of service: "My interest in serving on the AAWRE Board stems from my belief that we as Civil Engineers should strive for excellence in serving our Communities through the work we do and the products we develop. I feel that being admitted to AAWRE as a Diplomate embodies that goal. To that end, I have served on the AAWRE Admissions Committee since 2008, giving freely of my time to further the Diplomate program. My service on the Board would further my personal goal of giving back to the Community and the Profession through service."

Statement of service: "I have been passionate about understanding the complex water resources problems communities are facing and the need for an integrated approach to ensure water accessibility for all. The role of water resources association like AAWRE in providing opportunities to bring professionals together to discuss, propose and recommend solutions is substantial. Every year the world is facing high uncertainty in ensuring water accessibility emanating from the growing water demand and climate change impacts.   If I am elected, I will use my over 30 years of international experience to help promote the visions and programs of AAWRE. I will use my collaborative network in Africa, North America, Asia and Europe to work together and expand the visibility of AAWRE and its impact in helping the efforts of knowledge dissemination. I will also work to attract more membership and encourage the young water resources professionals and students to take active."
