Dear AAWRE Diplomates,

As a Diplomate of AAWRE, you are one of a select and growing number of water resources professionals who’ve made the extra effort to become a Board Certified professional engineer.  It takes a concerted investment and serious commitment to reach this milestone and it is clearly evident from our research that you find achieving the Diplomate, Water Resources Engineer (D.WRE) certification well worth the challenge.

Professional certification is much more than a distinguished professional achievement.  It brings with it a strong sense of responsibility to the community we live and work in, a commitment to optimizing the water resources solutions we develop and maximizing the benefits our work provides, and a sense of belonging and contributing to our noble engineering profession.

As a part of AAWRE’s virtual and intellectual community, we all share the responsibility for building and enhancing it by regularly identifying and recruiting talented individuals to join our circle of outstanding and passionate D.WRE professionals.  The D.WRE certification is the highest level of advanced post-licensure certification offered in the engineering profession for professional engineers (P.E.).

We encourage you to take time to think about your staff and colleagues and identify those whose body of work, technical expertise, professionalism and energy make them ideal candidates for AAWRE certification.

Direct those outstanding engineers on your team and in your sphere of influence to our attention. We’ll do everything we can to assist them in the D.WRE certification process, in hopes they may achieve the same distinguished recognition you have achieved.  The prerequisites for a candidate are:

  1. A P.E. licensure or foreign equivalent
  2. 10+ years in practicing water resources engineering, of which 6 years must be after obtaining the P.E.
  3. A post-undergraduate degree or 30 equivalent advanced hours

The current application deadline is March 31, so now is the perfect time to talk to candidates you believe to be qualified and ready to take the next step in their careers.  Each candidate is subject to a thorough portfolio review by our AAWRE Admissions Committee.

To begin the nomination process, please send a copy of the candidates’ resume or C.V. to AAWRE at [email protected] with subject line D.WRE Candidate.

If you have any questions, please contact our AAWRE staff at (703) 295-6414 or email us at [email protected].

AAWRE cannot maintain its renowned level of excellence without your participation in the Academy and its work.  Thank you for your input and guidance!

With sincere gratitude,
