June 17, 2014

Dear AAWRE Colleagues:

It is always a pleasure to write to you, but even more so when I have exciting news to share. I am absolutely thrilled to inform you that our 10 Year Anniversary celebration, held on June 2 at the EWRI Congress, was a remarkable success, and the credit that belongs to all of you.

Our first ever AAWRE Business Networking Luncheon drew full attendance. We heard from ASCE, EWRI and AAWRE leaders about our organization’s important activities and initiatives, the tremendous value it offers its Diplomates, and the promise of an even brighter future for AAWRE.

That evening was an unforgettable one, we held our landmark 10th Diplomate Induction Ceremony and saluted our founding members … our new class of Diplomates and EWRI Fellows for 2014 … our Honorary Inductees … and the winner of the Inaugural AAWRE Outstanding Practitioner in Water Resources Engineering Award. We also heard from inspiring speakers, including ASCE Past-President Greg DiLoreto and EWRI President Karen Kabbes, about the vital importance certification plays in helping to broaden and deepen the body of knowledge for practicing engineers and elevate standards in civil engineering.

All of this is very good news which should be trumpeted far and wide. You have been pivotal to the achievements that led to this event. As our best and brightest, you’re playing a leading role in helping to build a better world.

Adding more promising talents to our ranks is one of the most powerful things we can do to keep those achievements growing. That’s why in closing, I want to remind you that AAWRE is offering a special 10 Year Anniversary discount of 25% off its application fee (now only $225 for ASCE members and $300 for non-ASCE members). This one-time special offer ends thru July 4th holiday weekend, so I urge you to take time to think about your staff and colleagues and identify those whose body of work, technical expertise, professionalism and energy make them ideal candidates for AAWRE certification while they can save in the process.

AAWRE cannot maintain its renowned level of excellence without your participation in the Academy and its work. With your help, support and leadership by example, AAWRE will continue to grow in standing and reputation, and advance the practice of water resources engineering. Thank you for all you do for AAWRE. We are proud of you and your achievements. For them and more, I salute you.

With gratitude and best wishes for a wonderful summer,
