Thank You AAWRE Diplomates - AAWRE Staff Transitions
Dear AAWRE Diplomates.
I would like to inform you that the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) has made some internal staff changes to its Specialty Certification programs that will impact AAWRE.
Frank Kim and I have been selected by senior ASCE leadership to help develop the newly launched ASCE’s Utility Engineering & Surveying Institute (UESI). Taking over CEC and the academies, which includes AAWRE, will be Brian Sien who will serve as Senior Manager and Deborah Connor who will serve as certification program Administrator. I am confident that Brian and Deborah will do a great job for AAWRE and the specialty certification programs moving forward.
Brian joined ASCE in 2008 and helped launch ASCE’s second professional certification program, the Academy of Geo-Professionals (AGP) in October 2008. In addition to AGP, he’s also managed the third ASCE certification program, the Academy of Coastal, Ocean, Port & Navigation Engineers (ACOPNE) since 2009, and the Building Security Certification Program (BSCP). Brian also provided staff support to ASCE’s Committee on Technical Advancement with the Computing Division. Brian can be reached at [email protected] and 703-295-6314.
Deborah has been on staff with ASCE for nearly 38 years, in which prior to coming on staff at AAWRE, she has worked on ASCE’s Board Operations, ASCE’s Honors and Awards Department and Raise the Bar for past four years. Prior to that, she served as staff on ASCE’s Raise the Bar initiative for fifteen years. Deborah may be contacted at [email protected] and 703-295-6025.
After almost a decade of serving as AAWRE staff and working with many of you, both Frank and I are grateful for the opportunity to have worked with such outstanding civil engineering leaders.
On behalf of ASCE, we thank you for your continued and loyal support to the AAWRE, and wish you and AAWRE continued success and growth in advancing the practice of water resources engineering.
Wishing each of you a joyous Christmas and holiday season.
John Segna, P.E., BCEE, F.ASCE
